That means WhatsApp works using the data network used by the mobile, it may be WiFi, 3G, 4G, LTE, GPRS or EDGE. Currently, it is one among the most downloaded apps in the Google play. Here, let us review some of the features that make WhatsApp stand ahead of others.

Look and Feel

WhatsApp has a clean interface. Installing this app is very easy and can be done just by following the steps. Tapping the contact name gives details about the contact and sending any video or photo to the selected contact is very easy. Even by holding on to the chat conversion for few seconds, one can decide whether to email the conversation, delete the conversation or even view the contact.

The status feature helps in setting status messages like available, busy, user-customized status etc. Searching for a particular contact in the contact list is very easy with the available search option. Group chats or new chats can be easily started with tapping on the buttons available on the home page.

File Sharing, Voice Messaging, Privacy Features

One can also send photos, videos, audio clippings etc. The newly added feature is to add voice recordings by holding the [Mic] button for few seconds longer.

WhatsApp does not provide call facility, although if you see [Call] button its same as your Phone’s call facility, where these calls incur charges as per mobile carrier calling rates.

It has delivery notification facility to show whether a message has been received by the contact or not. It also updates if other person is typing a message. A chat message can be selected easily by tapping on it and it can be deleted, copied or sent to another person.

Unlike Viber, WhatsApp has the option to block people whom you don’t want to contact.

Apps Performance

The whole process of downloading and installing went on smoothly and even chatting with friends was smooth. There had been some problems when attaching pictures and message pops up saying memory error. Apart from that no issues of freezing or lagging has been observed.

It’s Free!! Not Exactly

WhatsApp was launched as a free app. Along with the increase in its popularity, new membership rules were launched for this app. For initial one year this application is free to use after which one has to pay a mere amount of 0.99$ to obtain a membership of one year. Even a life-time membership can be obtained.

• No freezing
• All attachments can be done on the chat screen itself. No need to go back to the home screen
